Communication Arts Illustration Annual

Communication Arts Magazine illustration annual issue is out now. I got really lucky for getting a full page exposure. Thank you editors.
I have two more images in the same issue as a really nicely written book review by Matthew Porter whom I initially met two years ago.
Arrival of the magazine to my studio door makes my day.

thank you for an Eisner Awards nomination

Wow, thank you for another Eisner Awards nomination for the best cover artist category. Just got the news. It has been more than three years and more than 45 covers I have created for The Unwritten, and still, every cover is fresh and new and challenging and exciting.
My really good friend Marcos Martin got his nomination for  the same category. I hope he wins!

Associazione Illustratori at WOW: an evening of meeting Italian illustrators

I had a fun evening here in Milan, Italy. Although, Milan has been having ‘the coldest week in 30 years’. It is colder than New York, how is this possible?
BUT, to have talks and questions and answers session with members of Associazione Illustratori was interesting and fruitful.
I was on the panel with friend and extremely talented Alessandro Gottardo (SHOUT).
Some unexpected nice surprise from the night was seeing the original Guido Crepax and Hugo Pratt (both famous Italian comic artists) on the wall right where I was sitting, and the best pizza I have ever had in a local pizza parlor.
Thank you Paolo Rui for organizing this fantastic evening.
Milan, you are cold, but really warm at heart.

first ever signing event

Outside was cold, but inside the Bowery Hotel was hot.
Art and literary journal H.O.W.’s 8th issue launch party and charity event took place last night.
My first monograph just came out in fall, so it was also my first ever signing event. Thank you for those who came stop by and picked up the book. I also donated a framed print for their charity auction.
If any local bookstore is interested in having me for signing event, or just to sign the books you have, feel free to contact me.

Oh boy, it is December already. My kids book is about to get finished. (I should be able to talk more about it soon. ) So, I am finally taking an afternoon off and updating my site.

Exciting news is that more than my family and best friends have picked up copies of my first monograph. So, those who you did, thank you thank you thank you thank you.

If you are planning on asking Santa, please visit publisher Gestalten’s online store or Amazon.com in your country. Or, better yet, order at your local book store. I have heard of a sighting at MOMA book store, which is an exciting news for me!

If you are New York City (book) store and stock the books, and if you want me to do a signing, or simply to stop by to sign the copies, I will be more than happy to discuss the details, so please contact me.

New York City Subway Poster!

If you are a New Yorker, or recently visited New York City and took public transportation, you may have seen this poster around subway and train stations. I am excited to see my work posted around, friends taking photos and sending them to me, and sometimes see posters becoming the victim of graffiti. (ha ha, very NYC).
If you are interested in making this a holiday gift this season, you can purchase the poster from MTA Arts for Transit store. and the proceeds go to make your train stations nicer. So, that is a good way to get a creative gift and also contribute to NYC!
